The E 63 AMG Estate is powered by a 5,461 cc biturbo direct-injection V8 engine, which generates 557 hpat 5,500 rpm and 720 Nm of torque, which remains constant from 1,750 to 5,250 rpm. Driving through a dynamic AMG MCT seven-speed automatic transmission with ECO start/stop as standard, the E 63 AMG Estate will sprint to 62 mph in just 4.3, and onto a 155 mph electronically limited top speed, while delivering exceptional mid-range punch. Combined economy and CO2 emission figures are 28.3 mpg and 234 g/km.

Sharing the same 5,461 cc biturbo direct-injection V8 engine and seven-speed AMG Speedshift 7G-Tronic Plus transmission, the E 63 AMG S Estate generates 585 hp at 5,500 rpm and 800 Nm of torque, which remains constant from 2,000 to 4,500 rpm. This 28 hp and 100 Nm hike in output delivers even more spirited performance – the E 63 AMG S Estate powers its way to 62 mph in 4.2 seconds and onto an electronically limited 155 mph top speed. Combined economy and CO2 emission figures are unchanged over the E 63 AMG Estate, at 28.3 mpg and 234 g/km.

Biturbo induction
The biturbo engine under the bonnet of the E 63 AMG and E 63 AMG S produces its exceptional levels of performance, economy and low emissions through an innovative combination of high-tech features. These include spray-guided direct-injection, twin turbo-chargers, four valves per cylinder with camshaft adjustment, air/water intercooling, alternator management and a weight-optimised AMG sports exhaust with chromed double twin tailpipes that contribute to the engine’s engaging soundtrack.

The additional 28 hp and 100 Nm performance advantage enjoyed by the E 63 AMG S model is created by an increase in peak pressure and a rise in the charge pressure from 0.9 to 1.0 bar. Despite these prodigious outputs, the AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine remains the most efficient series production V8 engine around.

Personal set-up on the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT
The seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT sports transmission in both models can be customised for individual preference with four modes – ‘C’ (Comfort), ‘S’ (Sport), ‘S+’ (Sport Plus) and ‘M’ (Manual). The RACE START function and automatic double-declutching function for downshifting are also part of the transmission’s dynamic repertoire.

Differential lock on the rear axle
AMG rear axle limited-slipdifferential lock is standard on the S-Model, optional on the standard model and resultsin a further increase in traction, ultimately leading to even greater driving dynamics and enhanced driving enjoyment, especially on the race track.

AMG tuned suspension and steering
The E 63 AMG and E 63 AMG S models feature AMG’s Ride Control sports suspension with electronically controlled damping system. The front axle employs a steel-spring system, while the rear axle is fitted with a fully load-bearing air suspension system. Electromechanical AMG speed-sensitive steering complements the vehicle’s set-up, with the direct steering ratio of 14:1 providing excellent agility in conjunction with the variable servo assistance.

External styling
The E 63 AMG Estate is instantly identified by its 19-inch 10-spoke AMG alloy wheels, AMG bodystyling – including front apron and splitter in body colour, rear trim strip in high gloss black, side sill panels with body-coloured inserts – and its AMG sports exhaust system with two chrome twin tailpipes. An LED Intelligent Light System and silver painted brake calipers complete the visual package.

The E 63 AMG S Estate benefits from a number of bespoke enhancements including: a high-gloss black front apron with silver-shadow splitter; side sill panels and rear strip with silver-shadow inserts, an AMG spoiler in body colour, 19-inch AMG alloy wheels painted in Titanium matt grey; red brake calipers, and ‘S’ labelling on the boot lid.

Interior styling
Inside the E 63 AMG Estate the unique AMG treatment includes the following highlights: an AMG instrument cluster with AMG menu including Racetimer; AMG Performance three-spoke multi-function nappa leather steering wheel with Alcantara® inserts and aluminium gear shift paddles; Artico leather upper dashboard with visible stitching; AMG door sill panels in brushed stainless steel, and nappa leather upholstery.

The E 63 AMG S Estate is further distinguished by AMG emblems embossed on the front headrests; grey contrast stitching on the seats; silver seatbelts, and S Model badging on the AMG instrument cluster.

Carry-all versatility
With a loadbay that can swallow 600-1,950 litres depending on model and seat configuration, these two AMG models are the last word in family-friendly carrying capacity. An Easy-Pack automatic powered tailgate, Easy-Pack Quickfold split rear seats, folding luggage compartment floor, luggage compartment load cover and load-retaining net are fitted as standard to all models in the E-Class family.
