The 22nd Goodwood Festival of Speed The 22nd Goodwood Festival of Speed drew to a close this evening, with the winner of the Austrian Grand Prix last weekend, Nico Rosberg, having thrilled the assembled crowds in his MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS F1 W04 V8 Formula One car. Having harmed tyres on the 1.16-mile Goodwood Hill, Nico Rosberg spent time among the crowds at the Festival of Speed before making a special appearance in front of a capacity audience at the Mercedes-Benz Pavilion to be interviewed by Sky Sport’s David Croft. Nico Rosberg was joined by legendary Mercedes-Benz drivers, including Sir Stirling Moss, Jochen Mass, Hans Herrmann and Klaus Ludwig, marking the 60th anniversary of an incredible 1955 racing season, during which records were set that still stand today, and Mercedes-Benz won both the Formula One and Worlds Sports Car Championship. On-track, the relentless action continued – the new generation Mercedes-AMG A 45, making its global debut this weekend at Goodwood, was ideally suited to the twist Hill route thanks to its 4MATIC system, compact proportions and its mighty, 381 hp, punch. Creating a smokescreen for itself was the C 63 S – the super saloon proved popular among the crowds in front of Goodwood House as 510 hp from a turbocharged V8 overwhelmed the rear tyres. Sir Jackie Stewart More new cars from Mercedes-AMG were shown at Goodwood than ever before, as the Festival of Speed marked the UK debuts of the new GLE 63 S Coupé as well as the all-new Mercedes-AMG GT3 racer. Launched this year, and appearing at Goodwood for the first time, the Mercedes-AMG GT C 63 S Saloon, the S 63 AMG Coupé and the GT S Edition 1, packing an incredible 1,605 hp between them, were among the favourites at the Festival of Speed.
