Parking a squeeze? Should parking places be bigger?

Parking a squeeze?

Finding a parking place is often a challenge, once we’ve secured that elusive parking bay the next challenge is squeezing in. As we are growing in size and stature so are cars, the problem is the parking place remain the same size (Car: 2.4 metres x 4.8 metres) according to minimum recommendations laid out by the gov.uk planning portal.

According to the government statistics department :
‘In 2013: there were 35 million vehicles licensed for use on the road in Great Britain the number of licensed vehicles in Great Britain has increased every year since the end of the Second World War, except 1991.’ We wonder how many parking places are available!

Taking into account (in many cases) that more land or multi-storey car parks may be required-do you think parking places should be bigger?
