Beatrix Potter’s Peter Rabbit commemorative issue coin

Beatrix Potter’s Peter Rabbit will appear (in a serious of four coins to be released by The Royal Mint) on commemorative issue coins, the newly minted silver 50p coin created by Royal Mint designer Emma Noble is to be released to honour the 150th anniversary of the writer’s birth in 1866.

We’ll soon be able to purchase our shopping (even vegetables to annoy Mr McGregor) with ‘normal’ versions of the coins which will be released into circulation later on this year.

Emma Noble from the Royal Mint said ‘I wanted to put Beatrix Potter’s illustrations to the forefront of my design as they are lovely images and the characters are very well known.

‘The Tale of Peter Rabbit’ was the first of Beatrix Potter’s 23 little tales.

Royal Mint designer Emma Noble said ‘I felt they were strong enough to stand alone and I designed them in this way as I thought they would work best for both the coloured commemorative and uncoloured circulating coins’.
